At the end of 2008 the two Parishes agreed to work together to take forward the results of the two parish surveys done and focus on building some sporting & leisure facilities on land behind the Bossingham Village Hall bequeathed to the UHPC some years ago.

As such a sub-committee, which I chair, was formed representing both of the Parishes with a remit to get opinions on what people would like to see built and provided and then cost, fund raise and implement.

INFORMATION UPDATES:

30th March 2010
Many thanks to all who participated and supported our Hall2Hall run on Sunday 21st March in support of the national Sports Relief day. We raised over £210 on the day which will be split evenly between Sports Relief and the fund for the Joint Sports & Leisure facilities at Bossingham Village Hall. Some pictures and a short write up are also on the website www.sportsforus.co.uk We now have funds & pledges of over £16,000, a very good start for the year. We also received responses from over 200 people across all age sectors on our questionnaire and we are currently collating and analyzing the results and feedback. The detail from many people has been fantastic (including some wonderful drawings) and shows that a real passion exists evenly across the two parishes. Several people also indicated they would like to help us as the project goes forward – many thanks and rest assured I will be in touch shortly! Although we have “officially” passed the deadline for return of the forms if you haven’t completed it then we would still be delighted to receive your views back. The results of your comments including a provisional “top 5” suggestions list will be published and circulated shortly.

On behalf of the committee I would like to thank the continued support by our KCC Councilors, the two parish councils and a special thanks to Clare Hamilton and Sarah Warren who did a lot of work behind the scenes for the Hall2Hall run. Clare has also agreed to accept the lead on fund raising in the community so we hope to be presenting a range of ideas and initiatives for this spring / summer for you to get involved in – I am sure she would be delighted to hear from you on any suggestions for this area. Also Pippa Barber, who is leaving the parish area, for her input to the committee over the past year or so and representing Stelling Minnis PC, we look forward to her replacement. Finally a big thanks to Tony, Paul and the boys and girls down at Mercedes Benz Ashford who generously allowed me to borrow a shiny new red Mercedes to lead the Hall2Hall run. Despite rumours of the chairman not being able to run himself (hence driving the car) my wife Annie will testify that I did my own mile run the Sunday after!
